On July 5th, 2020, at approximately 9:24pm, patrol officers responded to an address on South 8th Street for several victims who had been shot. There was a large gathering at this location for a vigil when two unknown subjects wearing “pandemic masks” approached the vigil and opened fire. The suspects are believed to have come to the location and fled the scene in a blue-gray car. Deronte died as a result of his injuries. Deronte was 26 years old at the time of his death.
