1989-243046 – Roland Vandyk

At approximately 3:30am on Wednesday, September 20th, 1989 a K-9 patrol officer saw a 4-door silver 1985 Chevy Cavalier, with the driver’s side window partially down, on the side of Clinton Street near 12th Avenue under the I-65 bridge. He checked to see if the car was a stolen then did a visual check of the inside of the vehicle. When he saw blood inside the vehicle he opened the trunk and found the body of a deceased male. Roland E. Vandyk had been shot multiple times inside his vehicle and then placed in the trunk. His wallet had been taken and discarded near the railroad tracks and his camera had also been stolen. Roland E. Vandyk was 42 years old at the time of his death.
