On the afternoon of Thursday, March 24th, 1988, Juanita Maria Goss was reported missing by her live-in boyfriend. He had last seen her the previous evening at 6:00pm. The last reported sighting of Goss was at the corner of 6th & Jefferson at approximately 3:00am on the morning of March 24th, 1988. On Tuesday, April 12th, 1988 police were notified of a dead body found in the Elliot School located at 6th & Jefferson, which was closed and abandoned at the time. The body of a deceased female was discovered in the balcony of the auditorium and was later identified as Juanita Maria Goss. She had suffered blunt force trauma and had been stabbed multiple times. It is likely she was killed shortly after she was last seen. Juanita Maria Goss was 25 years old at the time of her death.
