Around 4:00pm on Sunday, March 27th, 1988, two calls came in to the police regarding a body lying on the Volunteer State Service Co. entrance road at 600 Swinging Bridge Road. Reporting officers discovered the deceased body of William Garlon Cox. He had suffered blunt force trauma and died as a result of strangulation. It is believed Cox had been killed somewhere else and then dumped at this location approximately 4-8 hours prior to discovery. William Garlon Cox was 19 years old at the time of his death.
