Just before noon on Tuesday, October 29th, 1985, a bomb exploded in the kitchen of Melba K. Lapidus shortly after she returned to her house located at 716 Lynwood Boulevard. Lapidus did not survive the explosion which caused total destruction of the kitchen and dining room. The neighboring house also sustained some damage. There was a man seen sitting in a green Ford station wagon parked near the Lapidus residence almost every morning for two weeks prior to the bombing. Melba K. Lapidus was 62 years old at the time of her death.
