1983-066324 – Bessie Mae Reed
Shortly after 2:00pm on Friday, April 22nd, 1983, Bessie Mae Reed pulled into the parking lot of the Antique Exchange Mall at 2019 8th Avenue South. Only minutes later, she was found lying next to her car after getting assaulted and knocked down during a robbery. Witnesses stated they saw a black male in his twenties wearing an army jacket and jeans coming out from between the vehicles as they pulled into the parking lot. Reed succumbed to the effects of her attack on Wednesday, April 27th, 1983. Reed was 76 years old at the time of her death.
