On the afternoon of Sunday, July 21st, 1974, Barbara Brooks Trice’s mother reported her missing. She had last seen her on Wednesday, July 3rd at 11:00am. She had been on her way to the La Siesta Restaurant at 1206 Jefferson Street. On Saturday, September 28th, 1974 a group of kids were playing ball in a backyard when ball went across the alley into the yard at 1919 Delta Avenue. A 7 year old boy went to retrieve the ball and found a body that would later be identified as Trice. The body was lying in thick brush and could not easily be seen. The body was badly decomposed and it is likely she was killed on July 3rd or within a few days of that date. She had been bound and suffered sharp and blunt force trauma resulting in her death. Barbara Brooks Trice was 43 years old at the time of her death.
