At approximately 2:00pm on Thursday, December 16th, 2004, police responded to a report of a shooting at the Welch Bend Apartments located at 100 Tanglewood Court. When they arrived they found two males that had been struck by gunfire. Alberto Casillas Alvarez was fatally wounded while the other male received a non-fatal gunshot wound. The survivor described the shooter as a black male with a blue bandana over his face who attempted to rob the two men as they were walking outside the apartment buildings. Alberto Casillas Alvarez was 22 years old at the time of his death.
