On April 9, 2020, at approximately 10:16pm, Ashanti and her friend were in a car traveling on Green Lane and stopped at the intersection of Green Lane and Whites Creek Pike. An unknown suspect fired into their car striking Ashanti. Ashanti’s friend was able to drive their car away from the scene. Ashanti was transported to the hospital where she was pronounced deceased. Several shell casings were located at the intersection where the shooting occurred. Ashanti was 17 years old at the time of her death.
