On Saturday, August 25th, 2018 around 11:00pm, Mansfield “Man Man” Eugene Rutherford was sitting on the front porch of his residence at 1516 9th Avenue North celebrating his birthday with some friends when two black males walked across the courtyard toward the group and started shooting. Several people were struck by the gunfire and were treated for their injuries, Rutherford was fatally struck. The first shooter was described as a large man, over 6’ tall with shoulder length dreads. The second shooter was described as a black male with a lighter complexion, thin build, short hair, and wearing a hoodie. Both were described as being in their early 20s. Mansfield Eugene Rutherford was 22 years old at the time of his death.
