Shortly before midnight on Tuesday, June 12th, 2012 officers responded to a parking lot at 2610 Jefferson Street on a report of a man who had been shot. When they arrived they found Jason Earl Thomas lying on the ground near the driver’s side of a red 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix. Thomas had been shot multiple times from the passenger side of the vehicle as he was seated in the driver’s seat. A black male in a white t-shirt was seen standing on the passenger side of the Grand Prix just prior to the shooting. Jason Earl Thomas was 32 years old at the time of his death.
