On Tuesday, June 5th, 2007 at approximately 3:00pm, officers responded to a report of a shooting in the alley of 8th Avenue North and Delta Avenue. When they arrived, they found Derrick Leon Handy lying in the grass suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Three black males, who had set Handy up to rob him, were identified during the investigation. Derrick Leon Handy was 26 years old at the time of his death.
