Two other victims were shot but survived. Kirk’s twin brother Kent Clouatre and Kirk’s wife Melissa Clouatre. A summary is as follows:
Kirk Clouatre, Kent Clouatre and Melissa Clouatre were at their place of business located at 214 Brawner Avenue in Madison Tennessee. This was a building the Clouatre brothers used as a car mechanic shop. According to the surviving witnesses, three male blacks arrived at the shop in possibly an 80’s model blue Buick Century under the pretense of looking at a black car the victims were selling. A short time after the suspects entered the building, one suspect yelled “Freeze! Stick your hands up!” Suddenly, at least two of the suspects began shooting at the victims and then fled the scene. Kirk Clouatre was fatally shot and died at the scene. Kent and Melissa Clouatre were seriously injured and transported. They both survived. During the investigation, the name Thomas Edward Clardy surfaced as a suspect. A photo line up was prepared and one of the witnesses positively identified Clardy as the person who shot and killed Kirk Clouatre. Clardy was subsequently arrested, tried in a Davidson County Court, and found guilty of the murder.
The other two suspects are unidentified and at large.
Kent Clouatre passed away on November 22, 2024 for an unrelated issue.
