On Monday, November 3rd, 2003, Phillip Alexander Harlan was sitting on the back porch of 2304 Elliot Avenue with several friends when a man wearing a blue bandana over his face and a backwards ball cap came onto the porch demanding money. When he didn’t get an immediate response, he shot one of the men on the porch. Harlan ran toward the gunman and wrestled him off the porch where Harlan was fatally shot multiple times. The other man who was shot survived his injuries. Phillip Alexander Harlan was 56 years old at the time of his death.
