At approximately 4:00am on Saturday, February 2nd, 2002, a man entered the residence located at 528 North 2nd Street with the intent to rob the occupants. It was well known in the area that the man who lived at the address kept large sums of money at home at that time. During the incident, the man’s girlfriend, Shirley A. McNeal, was fatally shot before the armed robber fled the residence. Shirley A. McNeal was 51 years old at the time of her death.
