On Wednesday, March 1st, 2000, Gary W. Boleyjack walked to the Amoco station located at the corner of Douglas Avenue and Ellington Parkway, purchased a few items, then started walking back to his nearby home. As he approached his house around 10:00pm, located on the 800 block of West Greenwood Avenue, Boleyjack was shot multiple times. Neighbors heard the shots and called 911. Boleyjack was taken to the hospital where he went through surgery and survived his injuries. However, due to the damage incurred from the gunshots, Boleyjack suffered complications over the next nine years until he passed away as a result of those complications. Gary W. Boleyjack was 39 years old when he was shot and 48 years old at the time of his death.
