At approximately 9:00pm on Saturday, October 3rd, 1998, Jermaine L. Banks reported to work at the Mapco Express located at 585 Stewarts Ferry Pike where he was an Assistant Manager and worked the night shift. Just before 6:00am on Sunday, October 4th, 1998 the employee that was due to relieve Banks at the end of his shift arrived to find him lying deceased on the floor. The Mapco had been robbed. According to the time Banks was last seen, it is believed he was fatally shot between 4:30am and 5:15am. Jermaine L. Banks was 26 years old at the time of his death.
