At approximately 11:00pm on Tuesday, September 16th, 1997, a family was in their home at 4570 Clarksville Pike when pounding was heard at the back door. Four armed men wearing black clothing and vests marked “police” forcibly entered the house falsely stating they were “Metro Vice”, “Police”. As they entered a shot was fired and one of the intruders, Clifford Darren Fryar, was fatally wounded by the gunfire. The men then made the entire family lay on the living room floor and demanded money. At least one of the gunmen was a black male with a Jamaican accent. Clifford Darren Fryar was 27 years old at the time of his death.
