On Sunday, March 31st, 1996, Vincent Clayton Turner left his job at St. Thomas Hospital to catch the bus home. He got off at the Cahal Ave. and Gallatin Rd. stop to walk from there. As he was walking home, he was fatally shot near 1308 Chester Avenue. People in the area said they thought they heard a car backfire and when they looked in that direction, they saw a man lying on the ground. Vincent Clayton Turner was 50 years old at the time of his death.
