1986-146838 – Leon Pointer

Around noon July 3rd, 1986, Leon T. Pointer, Sr. reported his son missing. Leon Theodore Pointer, Jr. was last seen on Tuesday, July 1st, 1986 as he was leaving the First Baptist Church of South Inglewood located at 1515 Ann Street and did not show up for his night shift at the Adult World Bookstore located at 2407 Dickerson Road. On Tuesday, July 8th, 1986, Pointer’s body was found located at 1225 Whites Creek Pike in a field that was being prepared for paving. His death had been caused by strangulation and had likely died the night he went missing. His car, a 4-door faded blue 1979 Chrysler New Yorker, was later found parked in the back of the apartments located at 627 Shelby Street. Leon Theodore Pointer, Jr. was 27 years old at the time of his death.
