On Wednesday, July 3rd, 1985 at approximately 6:30am, a train engineer reported a body lying near the railroad tracks near 10th Avenue North and Pearl Street, now called Nelson Merry Street. Howard David Stamey was identified by his driver’s license which was laying a few hundred yards down the track along with his wallet and other contents that had been tossed to the ground. Stamey appeared to have been involved in a physical altercation and had suffered fatal blunt force trauma. Howard David Stamey was 47 years old at the time of his death.
