On Thursday, May 31st, 1979 at approximately 11:30am, the property manager for 533 Vanderhorst Drive went to do a welfare check on Lettie Lee Belton at the request of some of Belton’s family who had not heard from her. Belton was found deceased on her bedroom floor and the police were notified. She had suffered multiple stab wounds. The last time Belton was seen was early Tuesday morning, May 28th, 1979 shortly after midnight. Belton was likely killed sometime between late Tuesday night and Wednesday evening. Lettie Lee Belton was 44 years old at the time of her death.
