Around 1:00am on Tuesday, January 4th, 1977 a Checker cab driver stopped at Hooper’s Market located at 2723 Nolensville Pike to get some beer for his passenger. The cab driver grabbed some beer but couldn’t find the market owner, Alvin L. Hooper, to pay for it, so he notified his dispatcher to call the police. He then saw an officer and flagged him down. Officer’s located Hooper deceased in the back cooler. He had been shot multiple times during what appeared to be an armed robbery. Alvin L. Hooper was 43 years old at the time of his death.
