On the morning of Monday, February 9th, 1976 Peggy A. Shipp’s employer called her apartment manager at Elysian Garden Apartments located at 657 Harding Place to see if they would check on Peggy Shipp because she had not reported to work on Saturday or Monday. Shipp was found lying on the bathroom floor and appeared to be deceased which was confirmed when the ambulance and police arrived. She had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. The medical examiner put her death between 6am-8am Saturday, February 7th, 1976. She was last seen going to the apartment laundry at around 9:30pm the night before. Her ex-husband picked up their 3 year old son at 7:30am Saturday morning as previously arranged, however states that he did not see Shipp while he was there getting his son. Peggy Shipp was 25 years old at the time of her death.
