Shortly before midnight on Friday, January 15th, 2017, Vontrekus Lockett and a friend were returning to Lockett’s residence, at 1802 Borowood Drive, when a man dressed in dark clothing, a hoodie and a bandanna over his face approached and pointed a gun at the two men demanding they hand over cash and heroin. The gunman ordered the men to go inside and shortly after entering, he began shooting. Lockett was fatally wounded, his friend was shot in the leg, and Lockett’s girlfriend, who was inside the apartment when they arrived, was also struck in the leg. The man fled the scene shortly before officers arrived. Vontrekus Lockett was 28 years old at the time of his death.
