Just before 7:00pm on Monday, September 30th, 2013, Lejuan Evans was standing with a small group in an alley of the Cheatham Place housing development when he was approached by a man who appeared to know him. The man then verbally confronted Evans and pulled out a gun and shot him once. Evans attempted to flee the scene along with the others in the group, but was followed by the gunman and shot multiple times. The others fled in a vehicle and the gunman likely fled on foot. Evans was attended to by friends and residents who came to the scene after the shooting occurred but succumbed to his wounds. Lejuan Evans was 29 years old at the time of his death.
