On Tuesday, March 31st, 2009 Michael Earl Leggs was walking along Gatewood Avenue just before midnight when he was approached by a black male who pointed a gun at him and told him to “Put your hands up.” The gunman, described as approximately 5’9” wearing dark baggy clothing and possibly in his late teens/early 20s, then fired his weapon fatally striking Leggs multiple times. Michael Earl Leggs was 19 years old at the time of his death.
