On Tuesday, March 31st, 2009 at approximately 9:00pm Brandon D. Simmons ran into the yard of 1726 Edgewood Avenue while being chased and shot at by two black males. Simmons was struck by gunfire before making it into the backyard of the above address. The two shooters may have left in a large white pickup truck that was seen parked in front of Simmons house down the street prior to the shooting talking to Simmons and a couple other males. Simmons was able to briefly speak with responding officers before he lost consciousness. He was transported to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Brandon D. Simmons was 16 years old at the time of his death.
