2005-422024 – James Sims

Just after 2:00am on Saturday, August 6th, 2009, James “TJ” Theodus Sims, Jr. was walking from the Mapco located at 3053 Dickerson Road with a couple back to their residence on Hillside Road. Just ahead of them, near 3111 Hillside Road, a small 4-door red vehicle, possibly a Dodge Neon, stopped and three black males exited the vehicle. They ordered Sims and the couple to the ground and held them there at gunpoint while one of the men searched them. Sims was then fatally shot before the three men went and got back in the small red car that was being driven by a fourth person. The couple was uninjured and both ran to get help for Sims. James “TJ” Theodus Sims, Jr. was 47 years old at the time of his death.
