On Wednesday, April 1st, 1998 a few minutes before 11:00am, the burglar alarm went off at the home of Clayton Odel Smith and his wife Nora Selmer Kitchens Smith located at 102 Edgebrook Drive. At approximately 11:10am, a neighbor drove by and saw Nora lying in the front of the residence and called 911. Officers arrived just a few minutes later. Nora was taken to the hospital and Smith was found deceased inside the house. Both Smith and Nora had been shot multiple times. Nora succumbed to her injuries during surgery. Nora Selmer Kitchens Smith was 66 years old at the time of her death.
