On Saturday, July 26th, 1997 shortly before 4:00am, at least two to four masked men with guns forced entry into the rear of a duplex located at 2207 11th Avenue South and fatally shot Thaddeus Lamont Clay and the other three men who were in the residence at the time. One female in the residence was able to hide and then flee the duplex after the gunmen left to get help. The duplex and the vehicles associated with the victims all appeared to have been ransacked. Thaddeus Lamont Clay was 28 years old at the time of his death.
