On Tuesday, April 25th, 1995 at around 2:00pm, an employee of the Waller Buick located at 176 Lafayette Street had looked down at the creek from the lot and observed a possible body in the creek below. When officers arrived, they found Eric Andre Oatis submerged in Mill Creek approximately 100 feet North of the Murfreesboro Road Bridge. He had suffered blunt force trauma prior to entering the creek. It is unknown how long Oatis was in the creek but it was estimated to be approximately 2-4 days. Eric Andre Oatis was 34 years old at the time of his death.
