Approximately a quarter after midnight on Sunday, August 15th, 1993, William Ayers answered a knock at his front door located at 1609 4th Avenue North. When he opened the door he was shot multiple times before the shooter fled. Ayers succumbed to his gunshot wounds. William Ayers was 26 years old at the time of his death.
