1991-024440 – Gary Trenary

Just before 11:00pm on Monday, January 24th, 1991 a man walked into I-40 Liquors located at 799 Briley Parkway, grabbed a bottle of Smirnoff vodka and took it to the counter where the clerk, Gary O. Trenary, rang him up. The man paid him, and then after the register was open, the man pulled a gun from his right hip pocket and fatally shot the victim. He then took all the money from the register and left. The man was a black male, approximately 35, wearing a ¾ length army field jacket and a ball cap. A man matching this description had tried to rob the Denny’s about a half hour before he entered I-40 Liquors. Gary O. Trenary was 44 years old at the time of his death.
