At approximately 11:00am on Wednesday, September 7th, 1988, Vernon Lester Larkin’s mother called his apartment manager to do a welfare check after not being able to get ahold of her son for several days. The maintenance man entered Larkin’s apartment, located at 442 Knolls Place, and found him lying on the living room floor between the couch and the coffee table deceased. It was also discovered that Larkin’s dark blue 1988 Ford Mustang was stolen along with a TV and VCR. Larkin and his vehicle were both last seen at his apartment complex on the morning of Sunday, September 4th, 1988 and he did not report to work on his next scheduled day of September 6th, 1988. The mustang was later recovered by the Atlanta Police Department at 156 7th St. NE, Atlanta, Georgia on September 19th, 1988. Vernon Lester Larkin was 30 years old at the time of his death.
