Just before midnight on Tuesday, June 30th, 1987, patrol officers were notified of a person lying unresponsive in an abandoned railroad car on the tracks off of Oldham Street and east of Spring Street. When officers arrived, they discovered a deceased male who would later be identified as John Robert Hogsed. It is believed that he had been beaten sometime on Monday, likely in the evening. There had been similar robbery assaults in the area at the time that may have been related to this attack. Hogsed died due to blunt force trauma. John Robert Hogsed was 50 years old at the time of his death.
