At approximately 2:00pm on Sunday, January 2nd, 1983, an employee of the Hallmark Inn, located at 1902 Dickerson Road, entered room 219 to clean the room and discovered Thomas Edward Challenor bound and lying on the bed deceased. His death was caused by asphyxiation and a broken a neck. Challenor, a used car salesman from Kentucky, regularly frequented Nashville where he had friends and family. In addition to his wallet, ID and other personal items, his car was also missing from the hotel when officer’s responded. The car, a white two-door 1974 Mercury, was found the following day just before noon, Monday, January 3rd, 1983 near the Metro Court House. Thomas Edward Challenor was 52 years old at the time of his death.
