At approximately 3:30pm on Saturday, September 29th, 1973 officers responded to a report of a man’s body being found lying just off Old Old Hickory Boulvard approximately a quarter mile from Old Hickory Boulevard. They later identified the man as Raymond Dexter Ward. The man and his wife were visiting Nashville from Georgia when they got in a quarrel and he got out of the car and told her to just go home. At some point after that, Ward was severely attacked. The medical examiner puts his death at shortly after midnight that day and attributed his death to severe sharp force trauma. Raymond Ward was 52 years old at the time of his death.
