On 04/19/1964 Helen Mae Adkins (22) was found deceased in her apartment at 2113 West Linden Ave. by her female roommate who had returned home from the weekend from Dickson TN. She was found lying between two beds in the bedroom nude from the waist down. According to early medical reports Helen is believed to have been strangled and raped. Rent money from a bag in the bedroom was also missing. Helen was to go on a date with a certain Ft. Campbell soldier this weekend and was later visited by other Ft. Campbell soldiers. The soldiers also frequented the local downtown YMCA. No forced entry was found in the home. Several soldiers were questioned, printed and polygraphed to no avail. Ms. Adkins had been employed as a secretary at Royal-Globe Insurance Company and was from Jamestown TN.
